ABOUT ME
A Dedicated Piano Tutor
I love what I do and it makes me so happy to be able to share my passion with others.
The gift of creating music is a gift for life: A unique language of personal expression; a platform for communicating and sharing; a divine retreat into the imagination; an endless source of home entertainment and enjoyment.
My own musical journey began at home with my mother teaching me the Piano and Clarinet and me teaching myself the Recorder. Aged 11, I enrolled at the Purcell School of Music and in 2003, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where I graduated with a BMus (Hons) degree in 2007.
Even before graduating, I was teaching, sometimes taking over my mother's students and all the while drawing upon the excellence taught me in cultivating my own methods and techniques.
Over the years, I have accumulated a range of teaching experience from working with students as young as 3yrs (!) to teenagers and adults.
Ideally, I would recommend starting the piano aged 7 or 8, once basic levels of reading and mathematics are comfortably in place but younger children are welcome to attend a trial if they feel ready.
Learning an instrument is a discipline for which time and patience need to be dedicated but the results are lasting and the rewards extremely gratifying. To see so many students discover their natural skills and abilities with outstanding results has been an immensely rewarding privilege for me as their 'first proper teacher' (to quote more than one student). From audition and competition success, through to Grade (8) exam Distinctions and Music Scholarships & Exhibitions, there have been some incredible journeys made.
If that sounds like something you’d like to explore, get in touch. Start your own musical journey today!
